By creating an account, accessing the ECTO Platform, or using our Services, you explicitly agree to and consent to this Policy. If you do not agree with this Policy, please do not install, access, or use the ECTO Platform.

Customer: A person who books or avails transportation services from a Driver using the ECTO Platform.
Driver: An independent third-party auto-rickshaw operator who offers their transportation services to Customers via the ECTO Platform.
Device: The mobile phone or other hardware you use to access the ECTO Platform.
Personal Information: Information that can be used to uniquely identify you, such as your name, mobile number, and email address.
3. Information We Collect
We collect only the information that is necessary to provide and improve our Services, ensure safety, and comply with the law.
A. Information You Provide to Us
Account Information: When you create your ECTO account, we collect your name, mobile number, and a profile photograph. Providing an email address is optional.
Driver Verification Information: For our Drivers, we collect copies of government-issued IDs (Aadhaar, Driving License), vehicle documents (Registration Certificate - RC, Permit, Insurance), and bank account details for processing payouts.
Identity Verification: To enhance security, we may require Drivers to provide a real-time selfie, which uses your device's camera, to verify their identity upon login or periodically.
Emergency Contact:You may choose to add an emergency contact's name and phone number to your account for our safety features.
B. Information Collected During Your Use of the Services
Location Data (Crucial for the Service):
Customers: We collect your precise location data when the ECTO App is open and visible on your screen (i.e., in the foreground). This is essential to show you nearby drivers, set your pickup location, and track your ride for safety.
Drivers: We collect your location data when you are marked as "On-Duty" on the ECTO App. This happens both when the app is in the foreground and when it is in the background (not visible on screen). This is necessary to send you relevant ride requests near you and to allow Customers to track your arrival. You can go "Off-Duty" at any time to stop this collection.
Transaction Information: We collect details of your rides, including pickup and drop-off locations, distance, duration, fare, and payment method.
Device and Usage Information: We collect information about your device (hardware model, OS version), and how you interact with our app (features used, app crashes). This helps us improve stability and user experience.
SMS for Verification: We request permission to read your SMS messages for the sole purpose of automatically detecting and filling in One-Time Passwords (OTPs) sent by us for mobile number verification. We do not read, collect, or store any of your other personal SMS messages.
4. How We Use Your Information
We use your information for clear and legitimate purposes:
To Operate the ECTO Platform: To connect Customers with Drivers, facilitate rides, calculate fares, and process payments. Our current business model is based on a platform usage fee from Drivers, not a commission on rides.
For Safety and Security: To verify user identities, enable safety features like ride tracking, prevent fraud and abuse, and investigate incidents.
For Customer Support: To address your questions, troubleshoot problems, and resolve disputes.
For Research & Development: To analyze anonymized and aggregated data to understand user trends, improve our technology, and enhance the ECTO Platform.
For Legal Compliance: To meet our obligations under applicable laws and respond to lawful requests from government or judicial authorities.
To Communicate With You: To send you service-related messages like trip confirmations, receipts, and important policy updates.
For Marketing & Promotions (Future Possibility): We may use your information to inform you about our own services, offers, and updates. In the future, should we introduce third-party promotions or personalized advertising, we will do so in compliance with applicable laws and app store policies, which may require us to obtain your specific consent.

We do not sell or rent your Personal Information. We share it only in the following circumstances:
Between Customers and Drivers: To enable a ride, we share necessary information.
The Driver receives the Customer's first name, profile photo, and pickup location.
The Customer receives the Driver's name, photo, vehicle details, rating, and real-time location.
With Third-Party Service Providers: We partner with trusted companies to perform essential functions. These partners are contractually bound to protect your data. This includes:

We retain your information as long as your account is active and for a subsequent period (typically 180 days) as necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and prevent fraud.
